Mårten is a Swedish percussionist, composer, and producer currently based in Stockholm.

His way of playing and composing is often described as detailed and filled with traces from many different musical traditions and genres.

Recently, Mårten has started incorporating his knowledge of digital tools and recording techniques, into his background in traditional acoustic folk music. The result of this mix will be heard through several different projects in the coming years.

In 2019, Mårten opened a dedicated percussion studio in Stockholm together with percussionist Axel Fagerberg.

BIOGRAPHY

At age fifteen, Mårten sat behind a drum kit for the first time. What started as a way of fitting in quickly gave way to a strong connection to music.
Small encounters can have a life-changing impact: In 2012, Mårten got the opportunity to travel to Istanbul, Turkey. While there, Mårten purchased a darbuka, a traditional hand drum, from a tourist shop.
Later that year, Mårten traveled to Kafountine, Senegal where he took lessons from local musicians.
For Mårten, these meetings with old musical cultures opened a door and completely changed his way of perceiving and performing music.
